Fined Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chad Ochocinco was fined $10,000 by the NFL on Friday for a uniform violation for wearing a wrong-colored chin strap. Also fined $10,000 was Tennessee Titans safety Chris Hope for roughing the passer against New England. San Diego rookie linebacker Larry English was fined $7,500 for a horse collar tackle in the Chargers’ loss to Denver. New Orleans linebacker Jonathan Vilma received a $10,000 fine for his helmet-to-helmet hit on New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning.

Signed Goalie Jonathan Quick and defenseman Davis Drewiske signed three-year contract extensions with the Los Angeles Kings.

Extended A judge has given the NCAA until 2 p.m. Wednesday to release its original documents on academic cheating at Florida State. Friday’s decision by Circuit Judge John Cooper gives the athletics organization more time to seek an order from the Florida Supreme Court to block the release.

Waived The Houston Rockets waived guard Brent Barry, a move that trims their roster to the required 15 players.

Interviewed Minor league manager Torey Lovullo interviewed for the vacant Cleveland Indians managerial position. Paid Private donors are giving $75,000 to Bob Knight to settle a lawsuit he filed against Indiana University claiming it didn’t properly defend him when he was sued by a former assistant coach.

Elected Heavy favorite Jean Todt was elected president of motor racing’s governing body FIA, defeating Finnish candidate Ari Vatanen. The 63-year-old Frenchman was elected to a four-year term, topping Vatanen 135-49 in the voting at FIA’s annual general meeting in Paris.

Surgery Former Masters champion Trevor Immelman has had surgery on his left wrist and expects to return to the PGA Tour next year at full strength. Immelman, who has not won since the 2008 Masters, missed most of this year with severe tendinitis in his left wrist.
