Covenant with conservatives

The Spokesman-Review

I read Leonard Pitts’ column, “Conservatives build a bubble for belief,” about a group of conservatives who are going to revise the Bible to eliminate anything that sounds liberal. They’re going to do to the Bible what Fox News Channel does to the news.

I can already imagine what the Conservative Bible will look like. The 23rd Psalm will be revised to include the right to bear arms. The part where Jesus says that a camel has a better chance of passing through the eye of a needle than a rich man has of entering the Kingdom of Heaven will have to be cut out. Loving thy neighbor as thyself will be amended with “if they think like us.” The Sermon on the Mount will include conservative talking points.

The four gospels of the New Testament – Matthew, Mark, Luke and John – will be changed to six, with the addition of the gospels of Limbaugh and Palin.
