Vandals roll past Aggies

Sarah Conwell totaled 15 kills and 13 digs and Katie Tribley chipped in with 33 assists to send the Idaho Vandals (11-11, 7-3) to a 26-24, 25-19, 25-19 win over the visiting Utah State Aggies (12-11, 3-7) in Western Athletic Conference action Saturday.

•Shannon Lowell tallied a match-high 18 kills to power the Saint Mary’s Gaels (14-4, 6-1) to a 25-23, 25-20, 28-30, 25-14 win over the host Gonzaga Bulldogs (7-13, 3-4) in West Coast Conference play.

•Hayley Hills notched 16 kills and 13 digs to lift the Eastern Washington Eagles (14-7, 8-2) to a 25-17, 25-22, 25-18 sweep over the visiting Idaho State Bengals (9-13, 3-7).

•Katherine Fiedler had 16 kills and five blocks to lead the visiting Lewis & Clark Pioneers (12-9, 8-4) to a 25-19, 23-25, 25-19, 25-7 win over the Whitworth Pirates (9-14, 5-7) in Northwest Conference play.

•Marketa Hanzlova had 10 kills and Maddeline Dolny handed off 35 assists to lead the North Idaho Cardinals (25-4, 6-1) to a 25-16, 25-21, 25-22 sweep over the Eastern Utah Golden Eagles in Scenic West Athletic Conference play in Price, Utah.

•Community Colleges of Spokane’s Nicole Graybeal and Kasey Jurich each had a match-high 15 kills, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the Blue Mountain Timberwolves (28-5, 8-1) from posting a 25-23, 25-22, 21-25, 23-25, 15-6 win over the host Sasquatch (24-11, 8-1) in NWAACC play.

Men’s soccer

Keith Kirsch’s rebound goal in overtime lifted the Whitworth Pirates (10-2-2, 8-1-1) to a 1-0 victory over the George Fox Bruins (4-11, 1-9) in Northwest Conference play in Newberg, Ore.

•Solin Garcia had a goal and two assists and Amadeo Escobar scored in the 80th minute to lift the visiting Treasure Valley Chukars (7-3, 7-3) to a 3-2 win over the CC Spokane Sasquatch (5-8-3, 5-3-2) in NWAACC play.

Women’s soccer

Cory Druffel scored in overtime and the Whitworth Pirates (13-3, 10-2) held off the George Fox Bruins (6-9, 3-8) 1-0 in Northwest Conference action in Newberg, Ore.

•Mandy Schmedding scored in the 86th minute to help the CC Spokane Sasquatch (6-3-4, 6-2-3) earn a 1-1 tie with the visiting Treasure Valley Chukars (8-2-2, 7-2-2) in NWAACC play.

Cross country

A 1-2-4 finish by Anthony Brown (25 minutes, 22 seconds), Rigoberto Jimenez (25:34) and Sean Coyle (25:53) sparked the CC Spokane Sasquatch to a 31-32 upset over NAIA 10th-seeded Lewis-Clark State at the LCSC Invitational at Hells Gate State Park in Lewiston.

The Sasquatch women finished a distant second, 20-62, to the Warriors.

Women’s rowing

The Washington State Cougars won four of six races to win the Head of the Spokane competition against the Gonzaga Bulldogs.

Junior hockey

Revelstoke scored three first-period goals and rolled to a 4-1 win over the Spokane Braves in KIJHL.

Prep football

Gavin Burt passed for 196 yards and three TDs and J.B. Lange ran for two scores to lead the Garfield-Palouse Vikings (3-2) to a 34-6 non-league win over the host Republic Tigers (0-6).
