The Spokesman-Review
Power was restored about 4 p.m. for about 2,500 electrical customers northwest of Coeur d’Alene who were without power for about two hours this afternoon, according to Avista Utilities. The outage occurred just before 2 p.m. The cause is still undetermined, but may have been caused by weather, a utility spokesman said. The National Weather Service reported high winds in some areas of North Idaho and Eastern Washington today, and more wind is expected. Customers affected by the outage included those west of U.S. Highway 95 and north of the Spokane River, extending as far west as Huetter. The outage affected at least 14 emergency agencies served by the Kootenai County 911 Center. Emergency calls were routed during the outage to the backup center in Post Falls, the Sheriff’s Department said.
