Pot intrusion unforgivable

The Spokesman-Review

I am livid after reading “A growing problem” (Oct. 18).

The Methow Valley, Colville Indian Reservation and Ferry County contain the most beautiful pristine scenery in Washington.

On business trips, I drive the back roads around Nespelem, Okanogan, Republic and Keller through tall forests and mountainous terrain, continually marveling at the fir trees, flowing streams, natural meadows and green valleys.

How dare the Mexican drug cartels move to my state to use the almost endless forests, rangelands, orchards and vineyards for marijuana planting and growing opportunities? How dare the “gardeners” put my life in danger as I drive solitary? How dare the growers defile the natural environment by cutting down trees, damming streams and dumping herbicides into our ecosystem? How dare they put hikers, campers or hunters at risk should they surprise growers who are heavily armed?

Federal agencies, go get them! Marijuana? Not in my backyard!

If cannabis is legalized, the street value will do down to almost nothing.

No drug lords will be moving their operations here to sell something as cheap as dirt. When was the last time they moved here to sell tobacco or alcohol?

Think about it. Legalize it now!
