Some churches offer safe fun on Halloween

Several churches in the area will host safe and fun Halloween events this weekend.

•CrossWind Church, 17302 N. Newport Highway, Mead, will present its third annual Harvest Party Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m.

First Church of the Nazarene, 9004 N. Country Homes Blvd., will present a Halloween party for kids Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Toddlers through sixth-graders are invited to participate in a costume contest, play in a jumping castle, enjoy cotton candy and hot dogs, play carnival games and more.

•Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 8441 N. Indian Trail Road, will present a Fall Festival and Bazaar Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The day will include home-baked goods, Lefse, bean soup mix, handmade crafts, plants for sale and a quilt raffle.

The blood bank will also have its mobile unit in the parking lot for donations.

Pastor installation

Shiloh Hills Fellowship, 207 E. Lincoln Road, will celebrate the installation of its new lead pastor, Ronald Anderson, on Sunday at 6 p.m.

Anderson began his ministry at the church Oct. 18 and is a graduate of Bethel College and Seminary in St. Paul, Minn., and Trinity Divinity School in Deerfield, Ill.

Clergy workshop

Catholic Charities of Spokane and Lutheran Community Services will present a clergy workshop for clergy, pastoral staff and lay leaders to discuss understanding post-traumatic stress in troops returning from active duty and its effects on family members.

The workshop will be Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Anne’s Children and Family Center, 25 W. Fifth Ave.

Musical program

Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 2733 W. Northwest Blvd., will present The Liberated Wailing Wall, a musical mobile evangelistic team of Jews for Jesus, during services Sunday at 8 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.

The group has been around for more than three decades and has recorded 12 albums. The program will include music, drama and testimony.
