Businesses will flee
Anyone voting for Proposition 4 because it “sounds good” is not educated on the implications if it passes. It’s very confusing in its wording of whose rights are being protected. Would the rights of your neighbor trump the rights of your tree should it block sunlight or shed leaves on your neighbor’s property? Giving equal rights to nature or the environment as to people is a lot of lawsuits waiting to happen. Just forget about the laws already on the books that address rights of neighbors, possession of property and businesses, I presume. “No Vision” proponents think existing laws aren’t adequate apparently.
Proposition 4 allows for power grabs by a small group of organized citizens. It will change city law without citizens being fully aware of the impacts. One large impact will be the elimination of legal rights of corporations if a neighborhood challenges a business, and the result will be businesses leaving the city. Hmmm, who will now make up the tax base for the city when businesses leave?
