Indians fend off Knights

The East Valley girls soccer team outshot North Central 22-3 in a 3A regional match, but ended up on the wrong end of a 2-1 score in a loser-out game Friday at Central Valley.

The Indians jumped out to a 2-0 lead early in the second half when the Knights had a ball ricochet off their player into their goal. NC keeper Asia Porter did the rest, snagging 12 saves. Brianna Sillivan scored NC’s other goal.

NC will play West Valley-Yakima Wednesday in Yakima.

District 7 1A tournament: Newport beat visiting Freeman 2-0 on a pair of goals from Mckenzie Krogh in their first-round district game.

The Grizzlies will play Northeast A League champion Lakeside Thursday, with the winner advancing to the state tournament.
