BNSF train strikes, kills man in Spokane Valley

Staff reports
Spokane Valley police are investigating the death of a 38-year-old man who was struck by a train early this morning along the BNSF Railway line in the vicinity of Park Road and Trent Avenue. Sgt. Dave Reagan, spokesman for the police, said the man was carrying a grocery bag containing beer when he was struck by a westbound freight train about 12:40 a.m. Witnesses reported that the man did not react to the approach of the train, Reagan said. An autopsy was expected later today.
