Returning all-league players: First-team offense – Cameron Coy, Chewelah; Will Lohman, Chewelah; Sam Fisk, Chewelah. Second-team offense – Dan Webb, Freeman; Chase Watson, Freeman. First-team defense – Jonathan Altmeyer, Freeman; Carson Stroyan, Chewelah. Second-team defense – Lohman; CJ Tanner, Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls).

Quick kicks: Defending league champion Freeman, which lost in the State 1A quarterfinals to perennial power Royal, has issues with its home field. The Scotties are displaced while the school is being remodeled. In addition to practicing on the baseball field, the Scotties are going to have to move some early home games. … The Scotties only return three starters from last year’s team, the same as NEA runner-up Lakeside.
