Prep roundup: Lake City turns back Lewiston

Hillary Ayers finished with five aces and 17 assists as Lake City defeated visiting Lewiston 3-1 in Inland Empire League 5A volleyball Thursday.

Savannah Blinn led Lewiston with 13 kills and five blocks.

•Piper Wahlin had match highs of 12 kills and 17 digs to lead visiting Sandpoint to a 3-0 sweep of Post Falls in non-league play between Inland Empire League teams. Danielle Meehan had six kills and three aces for the Trojans.

•Breearr Henius had 11 kills and Tia Asbury added 35 digs to lead St. Maries to a 3-0 sweep of visiting Timberlake in an Intermountain League opener. Jaylee Sines added 30 assists for the Lumberjacks. Kelly Madsen led the Tigers with nine kills and nine digs.

Boys soccer

Mac Stannard scored twice to guide Moscow (2-2, 1-1) to a 4-0 victory over visiting Lakeland (1-4, 0-2) in IEL 4A play. Stannard dribbled through three defenders to score at 13 minutes and added a breakaway goal in the second half. Sebastian Mortimer and Ian Engebretson also scored for the Bears during the second half.

•Shawn McMillen scored twice and brother Kendall added a goal as St. Maries (2-2, 1-0) posted a 3-1 win over visiting Orofino (0-2, 0-2) in the Intermountain League.

Girls soccer

Marissa Watson scored a pair of breakaway goals in the second half to give host Lakeland (1-3, 1-1) a 2-1 win over Moscow in IEL 4A play at Rathdrum. Kerry Moller scored for the Bears (2-2, 0-2).
