Hold leaders accountable

The Spokesman-Review

Once again, it appears that the “leaders” who are truly at fault in evading centuries of agreements and treaties regarding torture are about to escape any consequences for their actions.

These investigations must be done from the top down or not at all.

How can we punish the poor worker bees who carried out their orders and allow the powers that be to escape any scrutiny and responsibility for their immoral and illegal actions?

We have no moral standing in the world. We have become a country that lies as a matter of course, violates our agreements, bows to corporate greed and avarice, and ignores the needs of the people.

Since we seem to have lost our moral compass, perhaps it’s time for an international court along the lines of the Nuremburg trials to hold our war criminals accountable.

It is not the duty of the torturers to stop our obscenities, but rather to look to our leaders to halt this scourge of evil that we continue to pursue.

The actions of our government cause me much sorrow.

We are no longer a government by and for the people. We are a government owned by special corporate interests of greed.
