Tyranny fear misplaced

The Spokesman-Review

I have some news for Tom Lawson (Letters, Sept. 2). He could always spend some time in Cuba, communist China or even Russia in order to find out what real tyrannies are like instead of engaging in a Chicken Little routine about the current administration.

Just how many “czars” has any administration had? Just how intrusive a “big government” did we have under the last administration? Just how much debt did any administration accumulate?

Yes, the Obama administration has big ideas about what it takes to fix what ails this country, but from what I can tell, none of those ideas are “un-American.” But because Obama is a Democrat instead of Republican, that is why Lawson feels free to attack. However, if Lawson were truly having to live in a tyranny, he wouldn’t be free to publish his hatred of the government.
