The Spokesman-Review
High wind knocked out power to more than 4,000 homes Sunday as a storm moved through the Inland Northwest. Wind gusts between 46 and 55 mph were reported at the Spokane International Airport and in the Deer Park area, according to the National Weather Service. More than 1,200 people in the Deer Park area were without power through the evening as crews fixed an electricity feeder that powered several lines, according to Inland Power and Light. About 3,100 Avista Utilities customers in Colville, Davenport, Chewelah, north Spokane, Coeur d’Alene and Hayden also lost power. About 2,100 of the outages were in the Colville area. No injuries were reported, but wind knocked down trees and damaged a roof near Chewelah, according to the NWS. Penny-sized hail was also reported.
