Region in brief: Two hurt in Division Street crash

From Staff Reports

Two people were injured in a two-car crash that blocked Division Street at Sprague Avenue Tuesday.

Spokane police said the driver of a Chevrolet El Camino was westbound on Sprague with a green light at Division when a northbound black Jeep Cherokee drove through the red signal.

The El Camino hit the back end of the Jeep, causing it to roll once onto its top, said Officer Paul Watson.

The driver and passenger in the Jeep were taken to a local hospital for minor injuries, Watson said. Five dogs were also rescued from the Jeep.

The Jeep’s driver will likely be cited for failure to obey a traffic signal, Watson said.

Two injured in Spokane Valley crash

Two women suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday night in Spokane Valley.

The 40-year-old driver of a Toyota Corolla was westbound on Fourth Avenue about 7 p.m. when she drove through a stop sign at McDonald Road, Spokane Valley police said.

The Toyota struck a northbound Ford Bronco, causing it to flip onto its side. The 27-year-old driver had to be extricated.

Both women, whose identities were withheld, had minor injuries, police said. The driver of the Toyota will likely be cited for running the stop sign, police said.
