Knitting Factory mixes it up next week

Swedish death metal, horrorcore hip-hop juggalos and “American Idol” finalists – the The Knitting Factory Concert House has all that and more over the next week:

“Idol” finalists: On their current co-headlining tour, Season 7 finalists Brooke White and Michael Johns take on their second collaborative venture this year, following the success of their sweet-and-bluesy duet, “Life Is Okay,” from the soundtrack to the Shaun White snowboarding documentary “Don’t Look Down.”

Johns is supporting his June release, “Hold Back My Heart,” while July marked White’s first post-“Idol” album – and the first to be produced by judge Randy Jackson – “High Hopes & Heartbreak.”

White and Johns will perform a couple of songs and sign CDs at a special free engagement Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Borders, 9980 N. Newport Highway. They come to The Knitting Factory on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance, $22 day of show.

Insane Clown Posse: Every time a juggalo-related event happens at the Knitting Factory (which is about every other month), it’s like a family reunion – you know, one of those family reunions where everyone is dipped in clown makeup and fake blood.

The giants of the juggalo movement return when Insane Clown Posse is backed by politically charged underground rap-rock band Hed P.E. and Spokane’s grim rapper Knothead. The dark carnival rides begin on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 in advance, $27 day of show.

In Flames: Sweden’s melodic death metal torchlighter leads the way in a multifaceted metal onslaught backed by North Carolina progressive metal quintet Between The Buried & Me; Vancouver, B.C., metal band 3 Inches of Blood; and California prog-death-metal quintet The Faceless. The mosh pit is sure to be packed starting tonight at 8. Tickets are $22.

Black The Sky: After tonight’s globe-spanning metal show, The Knitting Factory gives it up to local bands at the Fall Into Metal 2009 showcase with Black The Sky, So Farr, Grounded and In My Prison. The concert happens Saturday at 8 p.m. Admission is free.
