Overview: All-American running back Adam Anderson (ankle) hasn’t practiced this week and will be a game-time decision for Whitworth’s home opener. The Pirates relied on their defense and won last week without Anderson, who was hurt on the opening kickoff. If Anderson isn’t able to play, Milton Nelson steps in as the starter. Redlands amassed 448 yards and held Whitworth to 140 en route to a 38-7 win last year, Whitworth’s worst loss in six seasons. The Bulldogs, 7-2 in 2008, blitzed East Texas Baptist 36-3 last week as quarterback Dan Selway threw for 239 yards and the defense allowed just 79 total yards.
