Motorcyclist crashes after short chase suspended

Police received report that vehicle was stolen
The Spokesman-Review

The driver of a stolen motorcycle crashed and was arrested this morning in north Spokane just after a chase by law officers was suspended because of public safety concerns.

The 8:14 a.m. incident started with a pursuit by a Washington State Patrol trooper, who had received a report that the motorcycle was stolen.

A short chase was abandoned, but the driver crashed on Bridgeport Avenue just east of Nevada Street. The man, who had a minor injury, was arrested about a block away, troopers said.

He was booked for possession of a stolen vehicle, felony eluding of an officer, driving under the influence and driving on a suspended license.
