Pac-10 picks

If I had just listened to my head instead of my heart, there would be one more win on the ledger this week. But instead of trusting the numbers, I thought emotion would carry Oregon State to victory.

Forgot the Paul Brown rule: Emotion disappears in the face of an unrelenting pass rush. So does victory. I’ll remember it this week.

As always, the listed line is for your entertainment purposes only.

California at Oregon (Cal by 5.5): I still haven’t figured out the Ducks. Or the Bears for that matter. The dartboard says … Cal 34-31.

Arizona State at Georgia (UGA by 12): Looking back, I’m pretty sure I picked ASU in an upset at home last year. Should I do it again, this time on the road? No. I was wrong then. Really wrong. Georgia 24-10.

Arizona at Oregon State (OSU by 2): The Beavers have to pass protect better this week or Arizona will run them over and grind out a win. My guess is Oregon State will find a way to give Sean Canfield – or Lyle Moevao – time. OSU 27-21.

Washington at Stanford (Stanford by 7): I’m not a believer just yet. Let’s see how the road treats the Huskies. By the way, this is for first in the Pac-10. Go figure. Stanford 24-14.

Washington State at USC (USC by 45.5): In what should have been a fun week for the Cougars following their first win, injuries wiped the smiles away. Now a ticked-off Trojans team is at the end of the long flight to Los Angeles. USC 49-3.

Last week: 6-3 overall, 3-5 vs. spread. Season: 19-8 overall, 11-11 vs. spread.
