Charity ripped twice

The Spokesman-Review

I am appalled at the lack of true accountability for the “felony theft conviction” of both Rachelle Solomon and Cheri Mataya-Muncton. They received a mere slap on the wrist for embezzling tens of thousands of dollars. Then the courts are nice enough to only require partial restitution and no jail time or even probation because, “Ms. Solomon’s obviously sorry about what she did.”

Do the math: $5,000 repaid at $50 per month will take just under 8 1/2 years to repay without interest. That’s one helluva financing option! I would like to take an all-expense-paid trip to Florida wearing all my new clothes and eating the best seafood, all while my house repairs were being made at no cost to me.

It’s no small wonder why our society is in the shape it’s in. If I could utilize $81,000 for my own benefit, tax free, and only have to pay back 18.5 percent of the total, I’d be in Fiji!

Shame on everyone involved. People who are in need went without, those of us who have donated may have done so in vain, and a charity has been gypped twice, all so the embezzlers could have fun. There’s a special place for such people.
