Same-gender marriage a sham

The Spokesman-Review

While Mattie Orme is saddened and disappointed that Referendum 71 has made it to the November ballot (Letters, Sept. 19), I am delighted and glad that it has.

So it is clear to Ms. Orme that all committed couples that want to care for each other should be able to do so. I likewise feel that way. But what is a committed couple? It is a couple that is married. A married couple is an institution between a man and a woman who have professed vows to each other. Consult any dictionary and you will get the same definition.

Ever since The Spokesman-Review printed photos of same-gender couples who claim they were wedded in another state, make no mistake: those couples are not married. They are simply people engaged in an immoral, perverted lifestyle, and Mattie should know that.

Senate Bill 5688 should most definitely be rejected in Referendum 71.

If two kings or two queens of the same suit have ever been considered a marriage in a pinochle deck of cards, you just let me know.
