Support Dave Stevens

The Spokesman-Review

In response to “Deadlines bedevil prosecutor’s office” from March 24, I am deeply frightened that our head Spokane County prosecutor, Steve Tucker, is not a professional. As stated in the article: Jail consultant David Bennett said Tucker agreed to have “a professional prosecutor come in and do a quick evaluation of that office.” Are you serious? We have amateurs in the prosecutor’s office??

We had a professional prosecutor in that office: Dave Stevens. But Tucker fired him because he is afraid of competition after Stevens announced his candidacy for Tucker’s position.

While Tucker is dealing with backlog in the office and invites a professional to evaluate his office, we have possible criminals being released without charges.

Is this what we want in Spokane? Do we want criminals to be released because Tucker apparently can’t handle his own office?

I urge you to support Dave Stevens for Spokane County prosecutor in the 2010 election.
