Authorities identify Spokane officer who shot man

Law enforcement officials today released the name of the Spokane police officer who shot and killed an armed suspect last Friday.

Officer Trevor Nollmeyer, who joined the force in 2003, shot and killed 46-year-old Todd E. White, who reportedly fired four shots at Nollmeyer and Officer Dion Mason as they approached 4127 E. 36th Ave. White was about to confront the residents over a dispute involving firearms inherited from White’s late father, sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Dave Reagan said in a news release.

White, who pleaded guilty in 2002 to assaulting two Clark County deputies, fired a semiautomatic pistol that was equipped with a laser sighting device, Reagan said. He had been at the scene for about 20 minutes prior to the arrival of Nollmeyer and Mason.

White, whose felony convictions made him ineligible to possess a gun, also had an electronic police scanner in his pickup at the time, Reagan said.

The shooting remains under investigation.
