Spokane police on Friday credited an alert neighbor in the Five Mile Prairie area for helping them catch two juveniles in connection with three home burglaries.
Officers went to the 8700 block of North Cherry Lane after a burglary alarm was received from one of the homes.
A neighbor at the same time reported seeing two suspicious males running from the scene, according to Sgt. Kevin King.
Officer Michelle Madsen spotted two people running and worked with other officers to set up a perimeter so they couldn’t get away.
K-9 Officer Dan Lesser and his dog, Ray, found the boys hiding under a deck in a nearby backyard. After the two were arrested, police learned they had been reported as runaways.
The two were booked into Spokane County Juvenile Detention Center on one count of residential burglary involving the home with the alarm and two counts of second-degree burglary in connection with break-ins at two vacant new homes.
