Early April more like winter with snow possible today

Snow or rain could fall this morning from a storm system that is moving onshore to the south. Forecasters are calling for a 90 percent chance of precipitation with snow possible before 11 a.m. Snow flurries were reported at Spokane International Airport at 7 a.m. About an inch of snow was reported this morning in Davenport to the west of Spokane. Highs in the Spokane and Coeur d’Alene areas should reach the lower 40s today, which is well below the normal high of 54 in early April. A chance of showers continues tonight and Tuesday, but drier weather is expected during the middle of the week. Temperatures are going to stay below normal with highs in the 40s and lows in the upper 20s to lower 30s. Today, snow levels are expected to go from 2,000 feet in elevation to 2,800 feet this afternoon, but then drop back down to 2,200 feet tonight. A low pressure area moved onshore in Oregon on Sunday night and is expected to migrate eastward today, sending the chances of precipitation northward. Snoqualmie Pass on Interstate 90 in Washington’s Cascades was bare and wet this morning. Lookout Pass and Fourth of July Summit on I-90 in Idaho both had icy patches. At 7 a.m., it was 36 at Spokane International Airport, Coeur d’Alene, Deer Park and Pullman. It was 37 in downtown Spokane.
