Traded The Seattle Seahawks have traded guard Rob Sims to the Detroit Lions for defensive end Robert Henderson. The teams also swapped draft picks with Seattle getting Detroit’s fifth-round pick in this month’s draft, and the Lions getting the first of Seattle’s two seventh-round picks. Sims was Seattle’s fourth-round pick in the 2006 draft and started 34 of 45 games played in his four seasons with the Seahawks. Henderson was a sixth-round pick of the New York Giants in 2008 and signed with Detroit as a free agent.

Released The St. Louis Rams released quarterback Marc Bulger, perhaps clearing the way for them to take Sam Bradford with the first pick of the draft. Coach Steve Spagnuolo said in a release that it was difficult to make the move and wished the 33-year-old Bulger well. Last month the Rams signed A.J. Feeley, presumably as next year’s backup on a team that was 1-15 in 2009.

•The New York Knicks have waived guard Cuttino Mobley more than a year after he retired because of a heart condition. Mobley was acquired from the Los Angeles Clippers in a four-player trade in November 2008. His heart condition was discovered during a physical and he retired three weeks later.

Hoping The Denver Nuggets are hoping Kenyon Martin can return to practice after being out for a month with patellar tendinitis in his left knee. Acting head coach Adrian Dantley said he wasn’t sure what Martin would be able to do at practice today or even if he’ll be able to withstand the pain enough to participate in drills.

Scheduled Milwaukee Bucks center Andrew Bogut is scheduled to have surgery two days after he broke his right hand, sprained his wrist and dislocated his elbow. The team has not officially ruled Bogut out for the season, though a recovery in time for the playoffs seems unlikely.

Extended Texas A&M basketball coach Mark Turgeon has agreed to a contract extension to remain with the Aggies. The length and other details of the extension were not yet released, pending approval of the contract by Texas A&M regents in late May. Turgeon has posted a 73-31 record in his first three seasons at Texas A&M and led the Aggies to the NCAA tournament in each of those seasons.

Resigned The University of Kansas says Ben Kirtland has resigned as associate athletic director. The school announced the resignation Monday without giving a reason. Kansas is undergoing an independent investigation of possible wrongdoing in the ticket office and the Williams Educational Fund, the money-raising arm of the athletic department.
