Announced South African Caster Semenya intends to return to competition June 24 at a meet in Zaragoza, Spain, agreeing to wait for the results of her gender tests before coming back. The 800-meter world champion said in a statement that Athletics South Africa requested she hold off until the test results, which are expected in June.

Sidelined Vancouver Canucks forward Ryan Johnson will miss at least the first round of the NHL playoffs because of a broken foot. Johnson has been limited to 58 games this year. He played for a long stretch midway through the season with injuries to both feet that made walking difficult.

•A concussion is expected to keep Colorado Avalanche newcomer Peter Mueller sidelined for the final week of the regular season. Mueller, who has a team-best nine goals since the Avs acquired him in a trade with Phoenix on March 3, was injured in Colorado’s 5-4 overtime win over San Jose Sunday.

Agreed A person familiar with the decision says Citadel coach Ed Conroy has agreed to fill the vacant men’s basketball coaching position at Tulane. He will replace Dave Dickerson, who resigned last week after five seasons with the Green Wave. Prior to the hiring, Robert Morris coach Mike Rice took himself out of the running for the job.

Awaiting Former Ohio State football player Maurice Clarett is in county jail and awaiting a decision today that would release him to a community-based correction facility after 31/2 years in prison. Clarett, 26, was convicted on charges of aggravated robbery and carrying a concealed weapon.

Ordered A judge says former Detroit Lions receiver Charles Rogers must repay $6.1 million to the team. Rogers was suspended for substance abuse in 2005 and was released by the Lions the next year. The team has been trying to recoup two-thirds of his $9.1 million signing bonus.
