Allegro goes Italian in finale
Baroque music concert to feature Seattle’s August Denhard
Allegro Baroque and Beyond closes its mainstage series Friday at the Bing Crosby Theater with “Viva L’Italia,” a program of Italian baroque music performed on period instruments.
August Denhard of Seattle will perform two solos on the theorbo, a long-necked lute with an extended bass range.
Other instrumentalists include Peter Cama-Lekx and Joey O’Donnell on baroque violin, Barbara Krumdieck on baroque cello and Allegro co-artistic director Beverly Biggs on harpsichord.
Seattle soprano Rebekah Gilmore, a soloist in last season’s Allegro performance of Handel’s “Messiah,” will be featured in motets by Merula and Vivaldi.
