Cartoon crossed taste line

The Spokesman-Review

It is a great blessing that we live in a country where the political opposition is free to express itself. No knocks on the door at midnight by the police if something published hassles a seated representative. But there is a time when something is so outrageous that good taste alone should call in the censors.

Michael Ramirez is easily my least favorite political cartoonist. I am thankful that he has the right to publish his opinions. And I am equally thankful that I have the right to ignore them.

But there is a limit. His cartoon in the April 1 Spokesman is outrageous. It should be totally offensive to everybody, regardless of their political stripe. This is one where the editors should have said enough is enough and trashed it.
