Man accused of threatening Murray is released
YAKIMA, Wash. — A man accused of threatening to kill Washington Sen. Patty Murray over her support of health care reform has been released from jail after posting a $20,000 bond.
The Yakima County Jail confirmed that Charles Alan Wilson was released Friday.
Wilson had been held at the jail since FBI agents arrested him without incident Tuesday at his Selah, Wash. home.
Wilson, 63, has been charged with one count of threatening a federal official. Prosecutors allege he left several voicemail messages laden with expletives, some of which included threats to Murray, between March 22 and April 4.

Under the terms of his release, may he use the phone? Bet his Sis is putting up his bail, with the help of a bondsman. Good, let him return to his neighborhood, sans gun, with egg on his face!

No firearms or alcohol? Sounds like that was all this guy was living for.
Hopefully, he can still watch Fox News, and listen to Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck. Although having to listen without getting blotto and fondling the handgun, will certainly be punishment enough.

A person can say most anything they wish but you never, ever threaten anybody with bodily harm. I’m sure this gentleman went over the line and might very well deserve his fate. All things considered, he was blowing his guts out and nobody paid any attention until he stepped over the line and used a phone line that was traceable. No brains no headaches!!!

We are hardwired as a species that enjoys hurling feces
Venting paranoid retort like some self-righteous sport
Condescending with a passion in a patriotic fashion
Espousing fear as a religion an organic form of fission
Bloviating the myopic as the only vital topic
Welling threatening remarks igniting homicidal sparks
As our primates instinct shows will our threats result to blows
We are hardwired as a species that enjoys hurling feces

… and not what I would consider a “gentleman”.

So you can obviously say death threats considered a felony to the common man …. by precedent= are legal now.
your attacker only gets his hand slapped.
(they promised each attacker would be held to the maximum penalty allowed by law.)
hhhhhuuuuuummmmmmmmmmfffffffffftttttttttttttttttttttt

Chill bdr, he is only out on bail; trial and punishment to follow!

I sent him misjustice’s phone number. Better than telling Wayne Hinkley that misjustice had a crush on Jody Foster.

Another_Perspective - misjustice’s comments were spot on. Your comments seem to condone the actions of those that would use violence and terror to make a statement. I’ll bet you were a bully in school (however far in school you made it). You and all of the other verbal bullies (Palin, Limbaugh, Beck etc etc) need to realize more and better change is accomplished with calm discourse than threats and stupid comments.

In addition to acting in a hostile and threatening manner, according to the transcript of his phone calls released by the U.S. Department of Justice (http://www.justice.gov/usao/waw/press/2010/apr/pdfs/WILSON%20COMPLAINT.pdf - warning - includes raw and coarse language), Wilson is quoted as allegedly saying on a phone call to Murray:
“I am not a tea party bagger. I’m an independent voter. I am neither Republican nor Democrat.”
Consequently, I’m not sure we should jump to conclusions as to what TV shows he watches, what radio programs he listens to, his political affiliation or activities he engages in (besides shooting?) or much of anything else other than he’s formerly accused of threatening Sen. Murray and the transcript suggests anger and behavior issues that are better judged by law enforcement and psychologists than the rest of us.

edmitch, you are correct…all that we can conclude from the content of the above article is that he presented a clear and imminent danger to the life of a Senator. However, if you do read the complaint, much of the verbage and many of the terms that are used by Mr. Wilson seem very similar to ideas spouted by Faux Noose and the Quitter on Twitter (Sarah Palin)… except for his repeated references to the “sex workers (he used the W word) on Pike Street” (where that came from is anyone’s guess) coincidence, possibly…
At any rate, the justice system has deemed that he qualifies for bail, and he still has the trial and punishment phase of the justice system to contend with. Undoubtedly, more will come to light as he progresses through the legal system…

Wow, another_perspective; two assaination threats in one pathetic post, as if you were privy to my phone number…no doubt you are as brave as those that hide behind a phone to threaten people. All full of bravado and machismo until a police officer or federal agent knocks on your door, no doubt… ; )

If this man represented a “clear” danger to the life of a Senator before his arrest, he would not have been released. He is clearly suffering from some medical/mental issues that have nothing to do with politics, and more appropriately are likely manifested in little understanding of politics whatsoever. I’m not defending the guy for what he did, but this attempt to portray him as some Republican or Tea Party hack is just plain stupid. This could have just as easily happened to a Republican Senator had he happened upon MSNBC. People need to think beyond ideology and politics because to be unable to do so lessens the one thing you have: your own self-worth. Stop being the puppet of someone else who gains from your agreement and lack of individual thought.

Force…did you read the complaint? Please see link above posted by emitch if you have not read it…chilling. Mr. Wilson (and all defendents) by rights have a bail hearing, some are granted bail, some are not at the descretion of the court. Likely bail was granted because Mr. Wilson was deemed not to be a current threat; unlike the man arrested for threatening the life of the Speaker of the House, which had prior arrests for similar death threats…not every post is made on strictly political leanings. Again, if you can stomach the vile language, read the complaint…
misjustice on April 09 at 8:59 p.m.
And as an aside similar threats were made via youtube against Representative Cantor by a man in Pennsylvannia…not sure of the out come on that case, it’s not regional so we get less updates…so hate is rampant and has been directed against both Ds and Rs and it is WRONG no matter what the political leanings are, of either the one doing the crime or their target…hate is a double edged sword, it can cut both ways…and once unleashed is often unpredictable…

I did read it, and yes, it is disturbing. To me though, it reads of a man troubled by something deeper than politics. All I am saying is that any discussion of this man’s troubles should be on what is currently known; that he needs help. Many posts here, including some of your own, seem driven by a need to identify with a particular leaning rather than see things for what they are. It is my opinion that this man was likely never a real “threat”, is certainly not one now, and will get the help he needs after what amounts to making a scene at the expense of a Senator. We can all disagree as to the merits of any position on any topic, but no one does their cause a favor by pointing to those who are in need of medical care as the poster child for that which they disagree with. Know what I mean?
force_vector on April 09 at 9:15 p.m.
And yes, I agree, neither D’s nor R’s have claim to moral supremacy or an ability to shield themselves from radical complaints. It is up to the individuals of this country to see beyond party, beyond talking points, and call people for what they are. We are all human and imperfect, so let’s start there and begin electing those who tell the truth and mean well. Anything beyond that is just iceing, but I have yet to see a politician who has managed to accomplished either of the two “minimums” at the same time. It’s very unfortunate. I know both D’s and R’s aren’t telling the truth, and if I was mentally disturbed, who knows what I would say. Since I am not disturbed though, all I can do is vote and speak my mind in what I hope to be a rational way.
misjustice on April 09 at 9:20 p.m.
Well, we can agree to disagree, and neither of us are Federal Investigators, or judges, or lawyers that will ultimately decide the merits of the Government’s case against Mr. Wilson.
Perhaps he is just a sad derranged man, (formerly) with a GUN, but I’d rather that law officers and the courts err on the side of caution than to have the tragedy of a DEAD Senator; and on that point, I’m sure you would agree…he clearly threatened to kill Senator Murray…and that IS a federal crime, like it or not!
Look, I didn’t say he didn’t deserve to bond out…I’m glad that they took away his gun though!!!
force_vector on April 09 at 9:30 p.m.
As am I. Guns and mental instability don’t mix.
Ask yourself though, if this man had threatened good ol’ GW, would you have cared as much? And no, I am not a GW fan; just asking the question.
misjustice on April 09 at 9:43 p.m.
YES! As a veteran and as a citizen, I would have decried any acts of violence, or threats of violence against the leader of our nation; regardless of their political affiliation…just as I have denounced the violence directed against Representative Cantor (R)…WRONG is WRONG…I am a proud liberal but I do not condone violence aimed at any of our elected officials.
Vigorous debate, even heated debated is one thing, threats of death or anarchy against the state are not to be applauded or condoned, no matter who the target is. We have elections to decide who will lead us, not bullets or violence…
force_vector on April 09 at 9:51 p.m.
Glad we can agree then. Take care.

Don’t hate her because she’s an ineffective dodo who makes over 150K a year, will never suffer the pitfalls of Social Security and she drew the attention of this boozer? God Bless America!

Amazing that comments here are so political…. we have the right to be safe in America. No matter who we are!!!
Calling Senator Murray an ineffective dodo makes you UA_Big_Dummy~ not the brightest crayon in the box… to have threats against your life is a serious matter… no matter if you are a Republican, Democrat, or anyone.. if this was a loved one of your’s would you not want them to be be safe from possible harm or death?
We have the right to vote..most of us are not felons that lost that right by actions such as this individual…so yes God Bless America… and God Bless Senator Patty Murray for visiting Spokane with such threats against her life.
