Titans edge Rogers

Richael Paxson’s two-out RBI single capped a three-run seventh inning Thursday as University edged visiting Rogers 6-5 in Greater Spokane League softball.

The Titans (6-1) started their rally with Alene Bethel’s one-out solo homer, her second blast of the game and fourth of the season. Devynne Johnson, who pitched five innings of one-hit relief, tied the game with an RBI single.

Rogers (2-5) led 4-0 after two innings.

Elsewhere in the GSL, Mikayla Adams snapped a 6-all tie with a two-run single in the sixth as Mead (7-0) held off visiting Gonzaga Prep (3-4) 9-6. Mead’s Lauren Stewart went 3 for 3 with two RBIs. … Haley Cushner went 4 for 4 and allowed two hits as Shadle Park (4-4) posted a 12-1 five-inning win at North Central (3-4). Cushner struck out four and scored twice. The Highlanders won their third straight game and snapped NC’s three-game winning streak. … Erica Santarossa struck out 11 and Ashley Pickert went 3 for 3 with three RBIs to guide Ferris (2-6) to a 6-2 home win over East Valley. Nicole Nelson went 2 for 3 with three runs for Ferris, which snapped a five-game losing skid. Allie Riggin had an RBI triple for the Knights (2-5). … Kristen Furulie went 3 for 4 with one run and one RBI to help Lewis and Clark (3-4) to a 12-2 six-inning win at Central Valley. Becky White went 2 for 2 with one run and one RBI for the Bears (3-3).

•Richelle Ashburn pitched a three-hitter and struck out 11 in the opener as Post Falls (6-3, 1-2) won 12-3 to split an Inland Empire League doubleheader at Lewiston. The Bengals (9-5, 1-3) won the second game 6-4. PF’s Bri Joseph went 4 for 8 for the day.

•Jordan Levenseller went 3 for 3 with three runs as host Pullman (4-3, 1-1) defeated West Valley 10-6 for a Great Northern League split. Cassie Sinn hit a two-run homer as the Eagles (4-2, 1-1) won the opener 14-9. Pullman’s Hayat Norimine also hit a two-run homer in the opener.

•The Intermountain League doubleheader at Spirit Lake between St. Maries and host Timberlake was postponed. No makeup date was announced.

Boys soccer

Medical Lake (6-0 Great Northern League) scored twice into the wind, on Mark Clayton’s breakaway at 6 minutes and on Taylor Satcher’s rebound goal at 35 minutes, during a 2-0 win at West Valley (2-4). The Cardinals have outscored league opponents 17-0. … C.J. Skillingstad scored twice during an 11-minute gap of the second half as Cheney (6-0) eased to a 5-0 win over visiting Clarkston (2-4). Xavier Day added one goal and two assists for the Blackhawks. Cheney has outscored league rivals 26-3. … Trevor Bland scored after a corner kick during the second overtime to give Riverside (1-5) a 2-1 win at Colville (0-6). … Kevin Spangenburg scored three goals, two unassisted, as visiting Pullman (4-2) broke from a 1-1 halftime for a 5-2 win at Deer Park (3-3).
