Boat-wrecking boulder will stay

The Spokesman-Review

SANDPOINT – A plan to blow up a boulder in Priest Lake that officials say is a hazard to boaters has been torpedoed by the Idaho Department of Lands.

The agency says allowing demolition work would set a precedent that’s not addressed in the state’s rules that could then be applied to the many other navigational hazards that exist in other Idaho waterways.

The boulder is visible when the lake is drawn down but is typically just below the surface during the summer.
