Warm today, cooler Saturday, warm again Sunday

Mostly sunny skies and highs in the lower 70s has made today feel like spring ought to feel. But National Weather Service forecasters said a low pressure area off the Pacific Northwest coast is going to circulate clouds and showers over the Inland Northwest after sunset today and on Saturday after 11 a.m. There is a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 8 p.m. today and a 40 percent chance of showers on Saturday. Highs Saturday should fall back into the 60s under mostly cloudy skies. The same low pressure is also responsible for drawing warm air northward, and that trend is expected to resume on Sunday and Monday. After potential storms on Saturday, forecasters said they expect Sunday and Monday to be among the nicest days of the current string of warm weather. Sunday is expected to be mostly sunny with highs in the lower 70s while Monday is predicted to be partly sunny with highs in the middle 70s. Lows for the next several days will be in the 40s, including a mild low of 48 tonight in Spokane. Cooler weather returns by Tuesday. The normal high for this time of year is in the upper 50s. Thursday’s high at Spokane International Airport was 69. At 3 p.m., it was 72 at the airport, 74 in downtown Spokane and 73 in Coeur d’Alene, Deer Park and Pullman.
