Prep roundup: Stewart, Meade guide Panthers

Lauren Stewart went 2 for 3 with a double and one run scored and Alisha Meade allowed one run on six hits for her ninth win as Mead (11-1) handed Mt. Spokane (5-7) a 6-1 defeat in Greater Spokane League softball Tuesday at Whitworth.

Meade allowed three hits and a run in the first inning against the Wildcats. She settled in, allowing just three hits the rest of the way.

In other GSL games, Brittany Hecker stepped into the circle in relief in the second inning and shut down Gonzaga Prep (6-6), allowing just two hits while striking out four while leading University (10-2) to a 12-3 victory at U-Hi. Morgan Voelker added two hits and two RBIs for the Titans. … Katelyn Harvey had two doubles, three runs and three RBIs, and Haylee Cushner went 3 for 6 with a run and an RBI and Shadle Park (6-6) collected 16 hits to outslug host Ferris (4-8) 13-8. … Lindsey Gibson collected two hits, including a home run, and added five RBIs as Central Valley (5-6) shut out Rogers (4-8) 10-0 in five innings at CV. … Trailing 7-1, Lewis and Clark (4-7) scored four runs in the fifth and three in the seventh to slide past East Valley (3-9) 8-7 at Hart Field. Portilla Schuller’s single in the seventh scored all three runs to end the game for the Tigers.

Boys soccer

Jose Ferrari started the scoring in the first half with a goal in the 18th minute and Cheney (10-1, 9-0) added another score in the second to knock off West Valley (3-7, 2-7) 2-0 in Great Northern League play in Cheney.

Elsewhere, four players scored goals as Medical Lake (9-1-1, 8-1) shut out Colville (1-10, 0-10) 4-0 in Colville. … Austin Durfee had three goals and an assist and Clarkston (6-4-1, 5-4) scored three second half goals to beat Deer Park (6-4, 5-4) 5-3 in DP.

Golf

Peter Gullickson shot a 2-under-par 69 and Chessey Thomas finished at 3-under with a 70 to earn medalist honors for Lewis and Clark at GSL tournament No. 3 at Downriver Golf Course in Spokane. Both Tigers teams also took first place, outpacing Mead with a score of 413 in the girls and 356 in the boys.
