Spokane-area high school students awarded for academics

High school seniors from the Spokane area were honored Monday for their academic excellence at the 18th annual Spokane Scholars Foundation Banquet at the Spokane Convention Center. A total of $60,000 was awarded.

English grant recipients include Matthew Comi of Northwest Christian School, awarded $4,000; Cassandra Partridge of University High School, awarded $3,000; Caroline Emberton of St. George’s School, awarded $2,000; and Rachelle Parsloe of Central Valley High School, awarded $1,000.

Social Studies grant recipients include Janni Sun of Central Valley High School, awarded $4,000; Corrine Schmidt of Ferris High School, awarded $3,000; Andrey Melnikov of North Central High School, awarded $2,000; and Howard Lee of St. George’s School, awarded $1,000.

Mathematic grant recipients include Ho Jae Lee of St. George’s School, awarded $4,000; David Finkel of University High School, awarded $3,000; Brian Moore of Central Valley High School, awarded $2,000; and Hannah Myers of Ferris High School, awarded $1,000.

Science grant recipients include Amy Bestick of University High School, awarded $4,000; Richard Caulkins of St. George’s School, awarded $3,000; Cameron Nemeth of Central Valley High School, awarded $2,000; and Scott Davis of Ferris High School, awarded $1,000.

World Languages grant recipients include Matei Alexianu of St. George’s School, awarded $4,000; Olgena Hoxha of Gonzaga Preparatory School, awarded $3,000; Derrick Cunningham of Mt. Spokane High School, awarded $2,000; and Samantha Lewis of The Oaks Classical Christian Academy, awarded $1,000.

Fine Arts grant recipients include Christa Prentiss of Northwest Christian School, awarded $4,000; Elyce Cutshall of Newport High School, awarded $3,000; Philip Keeve of Central Valley High School, awarded $2,000; and Taemin Eum of St. George’s School, awarded $1,000.
