Alleged exposure sends rapist to jail

The Spokesman-Review
A convicted rapist considered likely to reoffend is in Spokane County Jail after police say he exposed himself to a 4-year-old girl. James A. Peterschick, 51, was drunk when officers arrived at 511 E. Indiana Ave., where the girl’s parents said Peterschick exposed himself while standing in the front yard, according to court documents. Peterschick said he vaguely remembers going outside but didn’t remember exposing himself to anyone, according to court documents. Peterschick was convicted in 1986 of statutory rape involving 13- and 14-year-old girls, according to news archives. He served about eight years in prison after being convicted in Montana in 1990 of sexual intercourse without consent involving a 17-year-old girl. He’s a level 3 sex offender – the classification considered most likely to reoffend. He remained in jail Thursday on three counts of indecent exposure, a misdemeanor charged in Spokane Municipal Court.
