Okanogan homicide suspect at large

Javier Ramirez Cardenas
A manhunt is underway for a suspect wanted for the shooting death of an Okanogan County man Friday night. Javier Ramirez-Cardenas, 30, allegedly shot Jose Antonio Padilla-Campos, 34, about 9:15 p.m. Friday at his Campos’ home at the Johnny Appleseed Orchard, west of the town of Okanogan, the Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release. Campos’ two children, ages 7 and 15, were witness to the murder, but were uninjured, officials said. Motive for the killing may have been a dispute over a woman, officials said. Cardenas’ vehicle was found Saturday morning in an orchard near the scene, and he may now be now driving a blue 1993 Ford Ranger, Washington License B45587A. He is considered armed and dangerous, and anyone with information should contact Okanogan authorities at (509) 422-7232, or call 911.
