A 31-year-old man was killed and two others seriously injured Friday night in a head-on collision on Highway 43 in Hauser, Idaho.

According to the Idaho State Police, Frank Q. Sargent was westbound in the eastbound lanes of the highway, when his 1994 Geo Prism collided with an eastbound pickup at the intersection with McGuire Road about 8:45 p.m.

The truck, driven by Leslie E. Hammond, 71, flipped onto its top, and Hammond and his passenger, Elaine M. Church, 77, had to be extricated, ISP said. Neither was wearing a seatbelt, and both were transported to Kootenai Medical Center, where Hammond was in fair condition today. Church was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Sargent was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash is under investigation.
