In brief: Sheriff seeks man in fatal shooting
A manhunt is under way for a man wanted for the shooting death of another Okanogan County man Friday night.
Javier Ramirez-Cardenas, 30, allegedly shot Jose Antonio Padilla-Campos, 34, about 9:15 p.m. Friday at Campos’ home at the Johnny Appleseed Orchard, west of Okanogan, the Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. Campos’ two children, ages 7 and 15, witnessed the killing, but were uninjured, officials said. The motive for the killing may have been a dispute over a woman, police said.
Cardenas’ vehicle was found Saturday morning in an orchard near the scene, and he may now be driving a blue 1993 Ford Ranger, Washington license B45587A.
He is considered armed and dangerous, and anyone with information should contact Okanogan authorities at (509) 422-7232, or call 911.
