Community farm hosts country fair fundraiser

A nonprofit community farm plans to host a country fair on Saturday to raise money for its goal of creating a sustainable local food source. People for Environmental Action and Community Health, also known as p.e.a.c.h., will host the fair, which will feature local music, goat milking and games including a pie eating contest, corn hull contest, horseshoes and seed spitting contest. Morning workshops will include permaculture design, a plant walk and composting. Local elk burgers, hot dogs and grass-fed beef hamburgers will be served off the grill. There will be a beer garden and freshly squeezed lemonade. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for children ages 12 to 17. Children younger than 12 will be admitted free. Money raised will help the group’s new 30-acre farm. The group’s mission is to create a sustainable local food system that provides nutritious fresh, organic produce to people regardless of income.
