Office to stay late for property taxes

The Spokesman-Review

The Spokane County treasurer’s office will restore normal office hours April 29 and 30 for last-minute property tax payments.

Chief Deputy Treasurer Bob Wrigley said the office will be open from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. those days to let property owners pay first-half taxes without penalty.

The office ordinarily closes at 1 p.m. on Fridays and at 4 p.m. other weekdays.

Wrigley said taxpayers are encouraged to pay by mail, though payments must be postmarked by April 30. Property owners who pay half of their taxes by April 30 may wait until Oct. 31 to pay the rest.

For an additional fee, payments can be made online or by calling (800) 272-9829. More information is available by clicking on the “Billing and Payments” link of the treasurer’s Web site: www.spokanecounty.org/treasurer.

I got a chuckle the other day when i went down to pay my first half taxes.

The clerk asked oh you are ONLY paying the first half, yes I responded I don’t believe in paying any tax before it is due.
