Goddess Arts Academy Drop-in Classes – Open to men and women of all ages and levels, no pre-enrollment is required. Tricks and Transitions Classes: Mondays through Aug. 23, 7:30 p.m., focus on taking specific moves and learning to combine them and build basic choreographic sequences. Black Light Ladies Night Classes: Wednesdays through Aug. 25, 6:30 p.m., cardio-intensive class that focuses on dance moves, calisthenics, floor moves and transitions. Held in black light and students must wear white or black-light sensitive colors. Open Pole and Aerial Practice Workshops: Held Thursdays through Aug. 26, 6:30 p.m., allows students to take advantage of extra practice time on the pole or aerial silks. Volunteer Car Seat Safety Technician Training – Safe Kids Kootenai County is seeking recruits to complete this certification course and become volunteer car seat safety technicians. Course is held Sept. 22-25, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at Kootenai County Fire Station 3, 3820 E. 16th St., Post Falls. Cost is $75, and is refundable if you complete the course and subsequently volunteer at two Safe Kids Kootenai County car seat safety events. Candidates should be in good physical health and able to lift 25 pounds, stand up for up to four hours at a time and able to maneuver in and out of vehicles. Southside Senior and Community Center Exercise Classes – Pilates “Mastering the Mat”: Held Tuesdays and Thursdays, Aug. 10-Sept 16, 5-6 p.m. This is a beginner’s Pilates class that is perfect for those who have never done Pilates before. Pancreatic Cancer Action Network’s Purpleride – Aug. 28. First annual Purpleride is a 35-mile bike ride from Spokane to Coeur d’Alene along the Centennial Trail. All proceeds go to benefit the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. A summer picnic at Riverstone Park in Coeur d’Alene and an awards ceremony and live entertainment by the Kelly Hughes band will follow the ride. 35-mile ride starts in Spokane Avista parking lot across from Mission Park at 9 a.m. 15-mile ride leaves Riverstone Park in Coeur d’Alene at 10 a.m. Four-mile family ride leaves Riverstone Park at 11 a.m. Picnic is at noon-4 p.m., open to the public.
