In brief: Groups offering free medical clinic

COEUR D’ALENE – Community organizations in North Idaho are joining together to provide health care at no cost for people in need.

Dirne Community Health Center, along with Lake City Community Church, the Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy, Kootenai Health, the Medical Reserve Corps and the Panhandle Health District will offer a daylong clinic with doctors, nurse practitioners and physician assistants on Saturday for uninsured people with medical conditions that don’t require immediate care. The clinic will be at Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy.

Dirne Community Health Center will screen potential patients by telephone before Saturday and make appointments for those with medical problems appropriate for the clinic.

Blanchard Daze begins Friday

BLANCHARD – The Blanchard community will begin its annual Blanchard Daze celebration Friday with a variety show held outside the Community Center, 685 Rusho Road, at 7 p.m.

The fun continues Saturday with a pancake breakfast from 6 to 11 a.m. Arts, crafts, food and entertainment will be at Pioneer Park, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the parade will begin at 10:30 a.m.

Activities held Saturday include a luncheon at the Grange after the parade. Stick-horse races will begin at noon outside the community center. Other events at the community center include a children’s art workshop, children’s games, a cakewalk and music from DJ Ron Goodbrake from 1 to 4 p.m.

Mad Hatter party at library

COEUR D’ALENE – On Saturday, the Coeur d’Alene Public Library Youth Services will host a Mad Hatter Tea Party from 1 to 3 p.m. Partygoers are invited to dress as their favorite character from “Alice in Wonderland” and join in mad tea party fun, such as croquet in the park, bingo and a mad hatter hat craft.
