Carlin Bay drowning victim ID’d as Calif. man

A man who drowned in Lake Coeur d’Alene near the Carlin Bay marina has been identified as Harry R. Hulley, 82, of La Mirada, Calif.

An autopsy shows severe heart disease may have contributed to Hulley’s death, according to the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff’s divers found Hulley under his boat slip in 32 feet of water on Saturday. They’d responded to the area about 6:30 p.m. for a report that Hulley’s car had been parked at the marina for several days with personal items left unattended at his boat slip.

Investigators believe Hulley was securing his boat when he fell in the water.

Neighbors in the Carlin Bay community, where Hulley is believed to have been vacationing from California, hadn’t seen him for thee days.

Investigators say no foul play is believed to be involved but ask anyone with information on the case to call Deputy Tim Leeder at (208) 446-1362.
