Highs going into the 80s

The Inland Northwest is getting a break from summer heat today through Wednesday as a pair of weak weather disturbances crosses the region. Temperatures should run in the lower to middle 80s, which is close to normal for this time of year. National Weather Service forecasters said they expect mostly sunny skies today. A 20 percent chance of showers is possible on Tuesday when more clouds are likely. High temperatures through Wednesday should be in the 80s with lows at night in the 50s. Hot weather could return as early as Thursday when a high of 90 is expected in downtown Spokane. A system of lower air pressure over the region may bring increasing clouds on Tuesday and Wednesday. Thunderstorms today may appear in southeast Washington and northeast Oregon. At 7 a.m., it was 59 at Spokane International Airport, 61 at Felts Field, 57 in Coeur d’Alene, 54 in Deer Park and 52 in Pullman. The high on Sunday was 80 at the airport. Normal temperatures for today are 84 for a high and 56 for a low, the warmest normal temperatures of the year.
