Pancreatic Cancer Action Network’s Purpleride – Aug. 28. A 35-mile bike ride from Spokane to Coeur d’Alene along the Centennial Trail. All proceeds go to benefit the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. A picnic at Riverstone Park in Coeur d’Alene and an awards ceremony and live entertainment by the Kelly Hughes band will follow. 35-mile ride starts in Spokane Avista parking lot across from Mission Park at 9 a.m. 15-mile ride leaves Riverstone Park in Coeur d’Alene at 10 a.m. Four-mile family ride leaves Riverstone Park at 11 a.m. Picnic is held noon-4 p.m., open to the public. Volunteer Car Seat Safety Technician Training – Safe Kids Kootenai County is seeking recruits to complete this certification course and become volunteer car seat safety technicians. Course is held Sept. 22-25, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at Kootenai County Fire Station #3, 3820 E. 16th St., Post Falls. $75 cost is refundable if you complete the course and subsequently volunteer at two Safe Kids Kootenai County car seat safety events. Candidates should be in good physical health and able to lift 25 pounds, stand for up to four hours at a time and maneuver in and out of vehicles.
