General Motors chief will step down
DETROIT — General Motors Co. CEO Ed Whitacre says he’s stepping down Sept. 1.
Whitacre says he will be replaced by GM board member Daniel Akerson, the managing director and head of global buyout of The Carlyle Group.
Whitacre is the former head of AT&T who took over GM’s operations last fall.
Whitacre also serves as GM’s chairman. He says he will leave that job by the end of the year.

Interesting. How many millions will he get for “stepping down”? And from what source do those millions come? The taxpayers foot a very unnecessary bill, yet again!!
