Griffiths, Prince AJGA champs


EAST WENATCHEE, Wash. – Canadian Zak Griffiths finished with a three-round total of 203 to take a seven-stroke victory at the AJGA Junior at Wentachee golf tournament at Wenatchee Golf & Country Club on Thursday.

Andrew Whalen of Ephrata placed fifth at 215. Peter Gullickson climbed into a tie for 10th at 220 with a final-round 73.

Other area golfers included Aaron Whalen of Ephrata (225) and Spokane’s Robert McKee (235) and Evan Dyar (238).

Kendall Prince of Lake Oswego, Ore., finished at 216 for a three-stroke victory in the girls division.

Sierra Bezdicek of Colbert fell back with a 79 for a 229 total and a tie for eighth place. Kaitlen Parsons of Greenacres finished at 233 and Megan Haase of Spokane at 235.
