Woman knocked to ground when man jumps out of her closet

An 80-year-old woman living on the 10th floor of a senior living complex in downtown Spokane was knocked to the floor of her apartment Thursday by a man who was hiding in a closet. The incident about 12:15 a.m. occurred in a 15-story apartment building at 1120 W. Sprague Ave., Spokane police said. The woman reported that while she was preparing to go to bed the man jumped out of a closet with a white blanket over his head, knocked her down and ran out the door. The woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening, police said. Officers checked an entry surveillance camera recording and saw a white male with a blanket over his head exit the front of the building and go east on Sprague. Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call Crime Check at (509) 456-2233.
