Sentenced Apologizing for a series of “terrible mistakes,” former Oklahoma State coach Sean Sutton was sentenced Friday to three years of probation after pleading guilty to illegally obtaining prescription drugs. Sutton agreed to testify against two people who allegedly supplied him with Adderall, clonazepam and oxycodone as part of a plea agreement covering four felony counts tied to his February arrest. He was also ordered to pay more than $2,850 in fines, perform 100 hours of community service in the next year and complete more drug rehabilitation treatment.

Honored Jockeys Randy Romero and Don Pierce, champion horses Point Given, Azeri and Best Pal, the late California-based trainer Michael Ernest “Buster” Millerick and Harry Bassett, a 19th century champion horse, were inducted into the National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame in Saratoga Springs, Fla. Romero was the regular rider of Go for Wand and the undefeated Personal Ensign. He won Breeders’ Cup races on both. Point Given dominated the 2001 season, winning Horse of the Year. Azeri was Horse of the Year in 2002. Best Pal had a six-year career that included finishing second in the 1991 Kentucky Derby.

Hired Daytona International Speedway hired Joie Chitwood III as president in a leadership shakeup at one of the nation’s most famous racetracks. International Speedway Corp. officials said in a statement that current track president Robin Braig will leave to “pursue other opportunities.”

Signed The Detroit Pistons signed Mississippi guard Terrico White to a two-year contract. White’s salary will be $475,000 this season as a rookie and the second year of the deal is not guaranteed.

• The Los Angeles Lakers signed second-round draft pick Derrick Caracter, who played at UTEP last season. Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.

Hospitalized Grambling State defensive lineman Christian Anthony, the Southwestern Athletic Conference’s preseason defensive player of the year, has been hospitalized after suffering chest pains. Universitiy spokeswoman Vanessa Littleton said Anthony, 22, “is listed in stable condition after being admitted to the hosptial.”
